Top bartender and PhD Biochemist Create a Unique Vodka
When an internationally acclaimed L.A. bartender, Josh Goldman, and a Ph.D. biochemist-turned-distiller, David Brandt, teamed up one could only expect something unique to come out. They wanted to make a tribute to one of the most delightfully nuanced and misunderstood spirits of the day.
Silvergrin Vodka
Every batch of Silvergrin is a meticulously crafted and wholly unique recipe of Alturas potato, Northland Hard Red Winter Wheat, and organic American corn carefully blended to perfectly balanced proportions. Bottled one harvest at a time, and distilled on the same family farm in Montana where the crops are grown, no two batches of Silvergrin are ever the same.
TASTING NOTES: Strikingly mellow & sweet on the nose, even at room temperature; Broad and rich first impression on the palate, with dense flavors of baked cereal and cornfields, offset with brisk, limestone-driven freshness; Lingering, the heavyset finish of cream and sandalwood.
Winner of the Gold medal with a score of 91 points at the 2020 Bartender Spirits Awards.
Los Angeles consumers can buy directly from their online store or buy from The Liquor Fountain in Hollywood, Yapa in DTLA.
Quincy Street's Bottled Prairie Sunshine
Quincy Street Distillery creates historically-inspired, handcrafted artisanal spirits with unique and distinctive expressions of taste. The distillery operates in a historic storefront in the very heart of beautiful Riverside, Illinois, one of the first planned suburban communities in the United States. Quincy Street Distillery honors this historic legacy with meticulously crafted small-batch spirits that balance the creative with the classic, as well as through our commitment to using the finest regional ingredients and collaborating with other local artisans.
Prairie Fairie™ is clear absinthe in the Swiss absinthe Blanche style, uniquely distilled from their Prairie Sunshine™ wildflower honey spirit with the “holy trinity” of green anise, Florence fennel, and grande wormwood. It is highly approachable absinthe suitable for drinking alone louched with ice water, or mixed in classic and modern cocktails.
Bourbon Spring® is their young rested Illinois bourbon whiskey, a single-barrel “baby” bourbon. A boldly flavored whiskey, with a core of sweet corn flavor and layers of tannin, vanillin, and smoke from the barrel, it has a robust, long finish from barley and rye malts with hints of tobacco, spice, and mint flavors. Enjoyable straight for its unusual smokey finish, its forward flavors can punch through the mixers in a cocktail. Like bourbon made in the early 19th century, it is aged only a few months in very small barrels. Bourbon Spring is a historic site only a short walk away from the distillery in Riverside, Illinois, where the Cook County militia was formed in 1834. To celebrate, the citizen cooled a punch in a bourbon barrel in the spring, giving the spring its name.
Quincy Street Distillery Hibiscus is their hibiscus flavored vodka, using only dried hibiscus flowers for extraction. Using their Quincy Street Distillery Vodka as its base, which has been 5-times distilled and 5-times charcoal filtered, it has a deep magenta color and rich hibiscus flavor ideally suitable for cocktails.
Quincy Street’s Range of Spirits:
Prairie Fairie™ – 92 points, gold medal at 2020 Bartender Spirits Awards
Bourbon Spring® “baby” bourbon whiskey – 91 points, gold medal at 2020 Bartender Spirits Awards
Quincy Street Distillery Hibiscus flavored vodka – 82 points, silver medal at 2020 Bartender Spirits Awards

Jo Irvine Gives Zinfandel It's Moment to Shine
Jo Irvine’s winemaking career began at a very early age. Her father, James Irvine is known as the “Master Merlot Maker” and from the age of seven, she followed him around the winery, undertaking the ritual tasting of ferments and wine blending. Whilst studying winemaking at university she was fortunate enough to work six vintages both in the Barossa Valley and California, USA. This was the start of her love for the Zinfandel grape and other noble/forgotten grape varieties.
Lévrier, a French word meaning greyhound, combines her love of winemaking and the advocacy she has for her greyhounds who have been a major part of her life for over 20 years. The love and respect she has for these gracious animals has led her to support the Greyhound Adoption Programme and adopt two greyhounds called Georgie and Daphne who man the office daily.
Levrier by Jo Irvine’s principle is about the noble nature of Barossa, their region, and its heritage. The Barossa is primarily known for its red wine variety Shiraz, and because it is so well known other noble varieties are under threat. Her notion in creating Levrier was to ensure that in some small way she would give the growers that she works with, a reason to continue to produce these splendid varieties.
Her wines are vegan friendly and all reds have extended aging in the bottle for at least 2 years before release.
2014 Levrier by Jo Irvine Anubis Cabernet Sauvignon – Gold Medal winner and 2014 Levrier by Jo Irvine Peritas Zinfandel – Silver Medal winner at the 2020 Sommeliers Choice Awards.
Personally selected single vineyard fruit from dedicated Barossa and Eden Valley growers, matured for 24 months in specific new French oak barrels and bottle aged for a minimum of 12 months before release.
Their wines are vegan friendly and all reds have extended aging in the bottle for at least 2 years before release.
Los Angeles consumers can buy these wines directly from www.levrier.com.au. and. www.getfreightedcellardoor.com.
Vermò – An Italian Vermouth with a Kick!
Vermò is the brainchild of friends Jorge Ferrer, a Spaniard, and Ettore Velutto, an Italian, who has brought this historic fortified wine into the present day with a fresh, unexpected twist. A drink with an exceptional taste, perfect both for cocktails like Negroni and to drink alone, with ice!
Created with a classic centuries-old method exclusive to Turin, Vermò is in the protected category of vermouth di Torino and uses only Italian wines and wormwood, an essential herb needed to create authentic vermouth. The founders wanted to create a product with a lighter body and lower sugar content than typical vermouths and as such, uniquely added chardonnay to the wine base to add extra acidity and a crisper, dryer finish that makes for a better sip! Sweet vermouth di Torino must include a minimum of 13% sugar and most vermouth makers use an even higher percentage. Vermò has a 14% sugar content, making it a much lighter drink with no excessive sweetness.
The botanicals add complexity to the recipe and are sourced from around the world. The more common of the bunch include wormwood, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, cardamom, juniper, orange, sage, and rhubarb whilst the more out of the ordinary botanicals such as mint, lemon, ginger, white pepper, galangal, and aloe, add a layer of extra freshness that most vermouths lack.
On the nose, you’ll smell vinous fruit and zesty citrus with complex and delicate herb, spice, and cedarwood notes. On the palate, you will taste zesty citrus and fresh notes from the ginger and mint as well as a light spiciness from the white pepper. The finish is crisp, with citrusy acidity and notes of nutmeg, cinnamon, clove, and ginger.
Vermò represents the Italian dolce vita poured into your glass. An extremely versatile drink, it can be enjoyed in many ways. We recommend it mixed with premium tonic water, on the rocks, or as part of your favorite cocktails like Americano, Negroni, or Manhattan. Vermò Vermouth di Torino Rosso – Winner of a gold medal, 92 points at the 2020 Bartenders Spirits Awards.
Try the world's first Himalayan Dry Gin
Distilled in India with foraged Himalayan juniper and locally sourced botanicals, HAPUSA is a gin that is uniquely Indian. You have heard so many stories from far-away India. Now you shall be able to drink them.
In Sanskrit, Juniper is called ‘Hapusa’, and it is this which gives their Gin not only its name but its untamed aroma and flavor. Found near the snow line in the Himalayas, this elusive juniper berry provides a beautiful structure around which the rest of their botanicals are purposefully arranged.
These botanicals come from all across the country to bring together its varied flavors, cuisines, and cultures to make this a real journey in a glass. From the pine forests in the Himalayas, your taste buds venture along the banks of the Hooghly River, through the monsoon forests of Tamil Nadu, and finally end their journey in the lush spice farms of Goa.
The team and the story behind the Indian Gin
In 2015, the world was going through a “Gin-aissance” and yet, two bar owners in Delhi who waited expectantly for the tsunami of gin brands were left high and dry. The country that invented the gin & tonic and where exotic gin botanicals are found in most home kitchens was still in the dark ages of gin. They decided that if they wanted and excellent Indian gin, they were going to have to make it themselves. They stepped out from behind the bar, got themselves a copper pot still, and experimented with every spice, herb, and fruit they could find. They found a lot, they distilled a lot, they tasted a lot and they fell down a lot. With a little bit of luck and a lot of help, they found two recipes they loved enough to not just want to serve at their own bar but to take to the rest of the country and the world.
NAND VIRMANI: He makes the gins and runs around looking busy.
VAIBHAV SINGH: He talks up the Gins and barely uses any words while doing so.
APARAJITA NINAN: She dresses up the Gins and makes them all look good.
JAY DHAWAN: He makes the Gins and loves meeting people (not just on Instagram).
Hapusa is a sipping Gin in that can be enjoyed all by itself or over ice. The inclusion of turmeric and raw mango makes this one of the very few savory gins found today. The distiller, Anand Virmani highly recommends Hapusa in a Negroni or served neat, straight from the freezer at “mountain temperature”.
Tasting notes for the Hapusa Himalayan Dry Gin: Pine forest on the nose with a bold earthiness and wildflowers on the palate. The gin won 91 points and a gold medal at the 2020 Bartender Spirits Awards in San Francisco.
